HOLIDAY DEMAND BY TAMANGS FOR BUDDHA PURNIMA

Webdesk, TNI Banarhat, 11th September, 2015: The Tamang community of Dooars today decided to place their demand for declaring a one day full payment leave on behalf of Buddha Purnima. It is already known that the CM is scheduled to visit the hills on the 14th of this month at Kalimpong. The Tamang organization i.e. Dooars Tamang Tribal Development and Cultural Association have decided to meet the CM on 15th September at Kalimpong and hand over the deputation after discussing the problem. This is announced by the president of the organization Mr. Manoj Tamang. According to Mr. Tamang almost all the main religious festival have their own full payment leave granted even the Adivashi community also have their leave on account of Karam Puja. However, till now there are no leave for the Buddhists community on account of Buddha Purnima. He further said that the organization want to meet the CM to ride off this discrimination against the Buddhists of the state. On a different note Mr. Tamang said that since the CM have announced the Tamang Development and Cultural Board, however, there is only 2 member representing the entire Tamang community from this vast region of Dooars comprising of at least 3 lakhs people from the Tamang community. The Tamang community from the plains are continuously deprived.
